We're into Crowdsourcing. We expect big things of it and we're going to create more than our fair share of those big things. Crowdsourcing is about using the Internet to tap into vast underutilized pools of talent, labor, and creativity, and using that tapped energy to do work, create things, and get work done. To individuals in the Cloud (aka the Internet), Crowdsourcing offers new ways to make money, achieve recognition, and fit work into busy schedules. To businesses, Crowdsourcing points the way to reduced overhead, higher efficiency, and lower costs.
The developer in you must:
- Think asynchronously
- Know how to do XHR without using a framework
- Understand the current weaknesses of the W3C spec
- Know the difference between JavaScript vs. ECMAScript, XHTML vs. HTML, UI vs. UX design
The designer in you must:
- Have strong opinions about good UX design -- and be able to defend them
- Already have a copy of Photoshop installed (we won't ask where it's from) -- and know how to use it
- Naturally create designs worthy of csszengarden.com -- extra bonus points for actually having a design on there
- Have examples of your work up on the web someplace where we can see it
The hacker in you must be ready to debate the key issue of Coke vs. Pepsi.
And above all else, being a rockstar is the most important qualification, so it's OK if you're more of one school than the other.
