Oracle Product Support - Systems Engineer
Oracle product support versions 10 and 11. Perl coding, shell scripting, Oracle Grid Control, Linux (RED HAT preferred), Unix(Solaris). Project management skills are a plus.

SUMMARY:
Oracle product support person with 5+ years of experience supporting Oracle database platforms including Oracle RAC systems.

The position requires a highly skilled and flexible individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work both individually as well as part of a group in a fast-paced environment. This is a technical position that requires in depth Oracle product knowledge, the ability to design and in some cases code database tool upgrade packages and the ability to interact with and support the Traveler's DBA group. Strong ability to multi-task in an environment of changing priorities. May direct project staff in the development and implementation of database tools and utilities in support of business requirements. Develops and implements appropriate solutions that may involve multiple platforms, databases, software/hardware, technologies and tools.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Developing and maintaining Oracle packaged utilities.
Managing the creation of Oracle alerts and automation.
Coordination, certification and packaging of new releases of Oracle in a lab environment.
Changes to utilities and automation to support new releases of Oracle.
Coordinate the packaging of Oracle client software.
Opening tickets with vendors to provide level 2 support for software problems.
Research Oracle new features and functions and present to DBA community as well as to application developers and architects.
Prioritizes work and manages projects within established budget objectives.
Responsible for establishing and managing to quality control and security protocols relative to database security.
Providing the division, department and business area management with timely and accurate information regarding the status and performance of the assigned project(s).

Advocates the use of database technology to develop and/or redesign business applications.

Builds, leverages, and maintains effective alliances across technical and business community

Multi-tasks and prioritizes in accordance with business priorities and production availability requirements.

Technical Knowledge
Has thorough working knowledge of all tools and techniques required for area(s) of responsibility and a thorough understanding of the business that the assigned projects are supporting. Experience in Perl coding, shell scripting, Oracle Grid Control, Linux (RED HAT preferred), Unix (Solaris), an understanding of storage Raid technology, experience with Oracle version 10 and 11 and project management skills are a plus.
