Duties:
* Participate in architecture and design of the service with performance, scalability and high availability in mind. Design a cloud service to help enhance our technology offering. The service has to be high performance, scalable, and highly available to meet an ever-growing install base. This is going to be a critical part of Proofpoint*s Email Security offering.
* Design and implement the service
* Integration on Proofpoint appliance
* Identify and leverage common components/services across Proofpoint Engineering team.
* Work with Ops on service deployment
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Experience building high performance and scalable service
* 5+ years of Java Development experience in developing server applications
* Knowledge of and/or experience with Web Services (SOAP, RESTful, or JAX-RS)
* Experience with Web Servers (Jetty, Tomcat) and HTTP
* Experience with Agile/Scrum and test driven development process
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Knowledge of Machine Learning technology with experience in developing real time clustering application
* Experience in Weka a plus
* Knowledge of Hadoop a plus
* Knowledge of SMTP and MTA a plus.
* Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
