MSS has a current opening on the Mobile Sensors contract onboard the USNS Invincible.





Job Description:





Position requires supporting the daily activities onboard consisting of a dual S and X Band Radar and related sub-systems. Specific duties include mission/track planning, operation, maintenance, and repair of the Gray Star radar system and ancillary equipment to include: coolant and dry air systems. Will also support engineering, technical and depot level maintenance personnel, as well as provide engineering assistance when required. Will provide assistance in system performance analysis and troubleshooting as required. Support to on-board software engineering as required. Development of system operation and maintenance procedures. Auxiliary duties may include security management, logistics support, or quality assurance responsibilities.





Work Environment:





Ability to live and work with others in confined spaces for long durations at sea. Ideal candidate will not be hindered by motion sickness. Must be able to meet and pass maritime physical standards.





Required Skills:





Must have 6 years experience in radar systems operation.







Radar operation experience required.







Extensive experience with radar system operation and repair including troubleshooting and maintaining X-Band and S-Band transmitters, microwave receivers, servo systems, VME architecture, and computer networks.







Able to troubleshoot and maintain SGI computer hardware and UNIX/IRIX operating systems.



Also able to troubleshoot and maintain master timing systems, GPS, Navigation and LN100 Gyroscope Stabilization systems.





Troubleshoot and maintain high voltage power supplies and RF frequency generation equipment.







Other Requirements:





Must have an existing security clearance.





Must be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance.





Desired Skills:







Ability to organize, perform, and support tehcnical activities of troubleshooting efforts/teams.







Extensive UNIX/IRIX operating system experience.







Extensive knowledge of related test equipment.







Strong organization and troubleshooting skills.







Successful applicant should be a self-starter with a working knowledge of Windows Office Suite and computer operation.







Development of system operation and maintenance procedures.







Some background or experience in industrial security, logistics support, and/or quality assurance.







Knowledge of Industrial Security Practices/Procedures and familiarity with DoD logistics and shipping procedures a plus.







Prefer a Graduate of a military radar "C" school.



Required Education:





A Bachelors Degree in a technical field with 6 years of related experience. Can substitute experience for education, (i.e., an Associates degree in a technical field and 10 years of relevant experience OR 14 years experience with no degree.) Relevant experience includes military experience and training in radar systems or similarly complex electronics equipment.
