Program Manager - Solar Construction

Program Manager * SOLAR
GCL Solar Energy, LLC was formed in 2009 as the development arm for GCL Poly. GCL Poly is the largest poly-silicon wafer manufacturer in the world with 10GW/year capacity and is a publicly traded company on the Hong Kong Exchange.

GCL Solar Energy is a San Francisco company based company dedicated to owning and operating large scale poly-silicon PV plants in the US and emerging markets. GCL currently has 450MW of utility scale projects in design or early construction in California and Puerto Rico. Additionally, GCL Solar Energy holds interest in projects in South Africa. GCL Solar Energy has grown from 10 employees to over 40 employees in the last 7 months.

GCL Solar Energy employs 3rd party Owner*s Engineers to develop DESIGN/BUILD contracts to provide turn-key engineering, procurement and construction services. Program Manger position will provide oversight and direction to the EPC firms to ensure projects are built according to specifications, on time and on budget. Assigned projects will be located in a limited geographic area. There are two geographical areas available, Imperial Valley and Central CA. Program Management position will be located in the San Francisco office with potentially frequent travel to the area of responsibility.

1. EDUCATION:
o Four year engineering or technical Degree
o Professional License or EIT preferred
o MBA or relevant business experience required
2. EXPERIENCE:
o Candidate should have 10+ years of relevant experience that includes:
o Field experience is a requirement. Candidate MUST be able to read and interpret construction specifications and drawings, construction contracts, project schedules, budgets and building code and other construction related documents.
o Candidate must have experience with power generation, solar experience or renewable energy experience preferred
o Candidate must demonstrate experience successfully managing multiple $100M projects, directly or through others. This includes developing Requests for Proposals, negotiating contracts and change orders and managing consultants.
o Candidate must demonstrate experience managing direct reports
o P6, MS Office, MS Project, CAD
3. RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Supervising and managing up to 5 project managers
o Project Budgets and Schedule, up to 5 projects
o Lead EPC contract development
o Manage relationship with multiple suppliers and vendors
o Support Business Development due diligence efforts for site selection, interconnection options, and constructability reviews
o Responsible for ensuring site permits, construction permits, and interconnection permits are completed in accordance with the project schedule.
o Responsible for internal project reporting requirements
o Resolve design issues / project problems
o Provide *lessons learned* reports
4. Skills:
o Must possess outstanding communication and presentation skills
o Self-starter, ability to effectively establish and accomplish objectives in a fast paced, fluid environment without the benefit of prior precedence
