This person will work closely with the business area representatives and development teams, providing key analytical support and must have strong communication skills and business acumen as well as knowledge of formal Software Development Methodologies and deep experience with formalized requirements management, analysis and design techniques. The candidat
e will assist less experienced analysts in completing tasks and providing work direction and support to teams of analysts on large scale development efforts, and will provide guidance and share ownership in the development and implementation of the requirements practice within the Reinsurance Business Systems organization.. The candidate may participate as an individual contributor on smaller scale development efforts REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Primary Accountabilities: * Actively participate in the project problem or opportunity definition and initiation of large scale delivery efforts; assessment of the solution risk thru understanding business impacts, environment and technology constraints, and industry trends. * Collaborate with project manager, architects, tech lead and other core project team members to determine the appropriate requirements practices for a particular project. * Responsible for the success of the Requirements Definition Process for assigned
projects; - Gather, analyze, document and communicate business and system requirements. - Ensure the requirements are unambiguous and understandable by both business users, software development and functional QA teams. - Translate business and system requirements into system deliverables. - Analyze the impact of solutions on current processes and existing systems. - Conduct and participate in walkthroughs and reviews to validate quality and obtain approval for system and business requirements, conceptual and logical models and designs. - Validate solution meets business needs and requirements - Assist QA in defining test strategy and assessing risks. - Lead the Business Process and User Acceptance Test Phase - Facilitate the implementation and training phases of a project * Work with Project Manager, Architects, Business Representatives, Developers, and QA to develop project plans, task dependencies, estimates and resource skill requirements; support risk management a
nd change management activities. - Production support for implemented applications * Provide support and mentoring to other BSAs and team members to facilitate a better understanding of the techniques, processes and deliverables required to support successful project delivery. * As the organization grows, provide HR management to a small team of BSAs. Education: Minimum: College Degree in Business, Finance, MIS or related field. Desired: MBA or MS in related discipline (management, engineering; Comp Science) Work Experience: * 7+ years experience developing and supporting business technology systems in a large-scale environment across multiple hardware and software platforms in financial services industry, preferably property casualty. * 3+ years in a business systems analyst or equivalent role. * 3+ years experience in a leadership role on software delivery projects. Technical Skills: * Demonstrated competency in developing efficient and effective solutions to complex busine
ss problems. *
Excellent skills in defining business requirements with an appreciation for process and technical constraints and opportunities. * Skilled in the use of modeling and requirements management tools; Use Cases and UML; OOAD; (Rational; Enterprise Architect) * Experience with multiple software development lifecycle methodologies (Iterative, Agile) and practices; proven flexibility and understanding of appropriateness of methods given project goals and dynamics. * Proven success in facilitating requirements sessions with all levels of business and technology audiences. * Demonstrated project management background/skills with experience organizing, planning and executing large-scale projects from vision thru implementation. * Ability to analyze project needs and determine appropriate resources needed to meet objectives. * Ability to identify and resolve complex issues. * Previous experience in a developer and/or QA role desired. Leadership: * Strong leadership skills includ
ing facilitation, coaching and mentoring; ability to direct others. * Ability to articulate a big picture view and translate into specific business analysis deliverables to be detailed by other BSA team members or on smaller scale projects ability to prepare required deliverables. * Previous experience in a project manager or project lead is desired. Communication: * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills * Ability to express complex technical concepts in terms understandable by the business. * Ability to express business needs, requirements and implications in terms understandable to technologists.
