Responsible for all activities related to sustaining high availability and performance of Intel based IBM Blade/SAN infrastructure in support of enterprise mission critical Lotus Notes email and other collaboration services. Ensures that systems and supporting processes are in place to monitor infrastructure performance.
Highlights potential and emerging issues and recommends and implements timely actions to avoid service disruptions. Provides system administration, technical project management, infrastructure design, proof-of-concept coordination/testing, capacity planning and reporting, performance monitoring, and disaster recovery coordination/documentation. Gathers requirements, plans, installs, configures, and maintains System-X IBM Director and IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager, (IT /CAM), on an existing infrastructure. Produces management reports, identifies emerging and potential issues and recommends and implements corrective action.
Areas of Accountability
Monitors IBM Blade Center environment for errors and/or performance impacting events and responds with corrective action. Provides pro-active monitoring and reports emerging and potential issues warranting remediation within the Blade/SAN infrastructure. Ensures continuous high availability and performance within the Blade/SAN infrastructure.
Installs, configures, and supports System-X IBM Director software.
Recommends, assesses, and schedules remediation actions and supports their testing and implementation.
Documents the architecture, installation processes, the frequency of recurring problems, and their resolutions.
Develops, tests, implements, maintains, and constantly re-evaluates security methodology and procedures.
Assists in the build out of the infrastructure.
Performs job duties and responsibilities in conformance with sound safety practices.
Actively involved in the accomplishment of departmental and Bankwide quality initiatives.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or equivalent related experience.
Microsoft Systems Engineer Certification required.
System-X IBM Director Certification required.
Extensive hands-on experience (3 -5 years) with the IBM Blade Center System-X and System Storage product lines.
Experience in all facets of installing and maintaining SAN environments.
Extensive experience (2 - 4 years) with IBM Director and Compaq Insight Manager (CIM) environments. Extensive experience with IBM Director and Compaq Insight Manager (CIM) environments.
Required Skills
Knowledge of IBM system tools such as ServerGuide and UpdateXpress. Ability to maintain and configure Alteris and other automated server deployment tools. Familiarity with installing, monitoring upgrading and troubleshooting McData, Qlogic and Nortel switches for IBM eServerBlade Center. Strong problem solving, analytical, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated skills as a team player who can effectively communicate and share knowledge. Ability to prioritize, escalate, and communicate issues in a dynamic environment. Strong customer and business sensitivity and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
Ability to develop, monitor, and maintain VMware ESX infrastructure.
Weekend and offhour support availability. (Approx one weekend per month)
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations certification.
Remedy/CPM experience * problem reporting and change management.
Experience/certification with Tivoli Backups.
Familiarity in supporting Lotus Domino/Notes environment.
WebSphere installation and maintenance experience preferred.
