TITLE: Release Engineer (UNIX)
LOCATION: Hoffman Estates, IL
DURATION: 11 weeks
EDUCATION: Bachelor*s Degree; Certification(s) preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
A bachelor*s degree in computer science or a related field or equivalent work related experience.
* Work Experience/Skills
* 3-5 years experience in software design, release engineering and deployment.
* Minimum 2+ years of Java code development or deployment and/or 2+ years of IBM Rational ClearCase/ Subversion experience in UNIX environment, required
* Familiarity with bug tacking tools like JIRA and Clear Quest.
* IBM WebSphere,JBOSS application servers and ant/maven Experience is a plus.
Off-Hours Support * On Call 24x7 for major releases and major incident management

RESPONSIBILITIES: The release engineer will work closely with the QA team, to define and plan the content of each release, the Development and build teams to understand their requirements for release management (documentation, source control, etc.,) and will work with other IT teams (Technical writers, CM team for Source Control, etc.) to ensure eCommerce*s release management requirements are met.

The associate in this position has significant responsibility for release management and is expected to work independently with minimal management direction. The role may also include some amount of project management.

* Plan and coordinate Build and release schedules
* Create releases in source control and conducting build verification and validation.
* Create and communication release documentation.
* Participates in build and deployment actives as needed.
* Key participant in architecture planning for source control, build management and deployment process.
* Participates in problem management and major incident management with other teams as needed.
* Creates and maintains process documentation.
* Continuously suggest new automated tools and ways to decrease deployment activities.
* Partner with the developers, architects and other team members to merge code streams and trouble shoot issues.
* Understand business requirements to ensure deliverables are met.
* Sense of urgency to communicate issues impacting code release.
* Tracking deployment activities and complete daily reports.
* Act as the final decision makers on application readiness for production.
