CIBER is recruiting for a Sr. Telco Engineer in Las Vegas, NV.
Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following: - Manage the host hardware and operating system. - Manage multiple servers and software used for systems that directly support client. - Develops and implements system procedures. - Develops and delivers training to employees. - Participates in the development of a long term strategic plan that links to the overall architecture, client's vision, Senior Management's objectives and ensures interoperability of all systems and applications. - Responsible for problem analysis and resolution. - Enforce security to meet Audit Controls. - Recognize and identify potential areas where existing data security policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion. - Performs installation, troubleshooting, and problem determination. - Work with other technical groups, developers and management to resolve complex business, computer system and data communication problems. Install, upgrade and maintain hardware & software products. - Handles complex production and operational problems requiring individual judgment and latitude for independent action to solve these problems. - Plan and coordinate all hardware installations, changes and updates with vendors and users, adhering to the I.T. Change Control Process. - Administer and control updates/changes to production programs, files and databases. Recommend application design changes to management and development staff to maximize resources. - Execute bypass/recovery actions for affected computer systems. Analyze problem data, initiate further problem data gathering and analysis. Update, direct and escalate problems for final resolution. Analyze and recommend tools and service aids for system/network operation and problem determination. - Identify reoccurring and potential operations problems. Recommends controls for prevention. Report results from technical research, system performance reports and problem resolutions to upper-management. - Recognize and identify potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed, especially regarding future business expansion. - Implements network security and access policies as defined by management. - Collect and analyze system data for quality assurance of technical design and optimum system performance. Adjust system parameters to achieve peak system performance. Administer systems and tools to analyze and secure computer system programs and database files to audit requirements. - Establish, maintain and monitor all log-on identifications and access rules, defining access to network, files and database management systems. - Recommend security software and its application to all storage device types and the access to them. Establish alternative security measures, if needed, to support disaster recovery efforts. - Engineer and implement new systems and additions/ upgrades to existing systems. - Negotiate vendor pricing for all aspects of new systems implementation. Document departmental expenses and track vendor invoices for new system components (hardware, software, network). - Leverages a variety of resources to research emerging computer industry trends and directions. - Maps technology to business requirements conforming to client's architecture. - Collaborates to ensure that designs contribute not only to the efficiency of an individual technology but to the effectiveness of the overall solution. - Acts as technical advisor to systems analysts, application specialists and operations personnel. - Coordinates initiatives with other departments to maximize efficiencies. - Develops, maintains and monitors policies, procedures, and standards regarding system management. - Participates in the development, maintenance, and periodic testing of a comprehensive disaster recovery plan. - Monitors emerging technology developments and identifies innovations with potential high payoffs for the companies infrastructure. - Conducts effective cost-benefit analysis on system enhancements and improvements. - Makes recommendations for new/altered technologies that would contribute to system cost savings and/or productivity improvements. - Monitors the overall vendor performance and escalates within client's management as appropriate. - Utilizes vendors to identify opportunities to leverage existing vendor technology to improve client's operational efficiency. Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE - Minimum 5 years work experience in computer support, programming or operations required. - Requires knowledge of operating systems, client/server technology, computer science, business data processing, database analysis and design theory skills, information engineering skills, transaction processing systems, relational database architecture, wide and local area networks, communications protocols, real-time systems, mission-critical systems, industry standards and FCC regulations, and various types of computer terminal equipment. Demonstrated analytical skills, problem solving skills and project management skills. Extensive training in engineering disciplines including systems programming, systems design, computer technology and software disciplines. Operations management, project management, and system implementation management skills.
EDUCATION Bachelor's degree or equivalent business experience in Computer Science, MIS or Electrical Engineering required. * This is a permanent position with our client. * No Corp-2-Corp candidates considered.
