Job Summary:
Under general direction with a high level of autonomy uses specialized knowledge in data and/or voice networking and skills obtained through experience to recommend enterprise solutions. Operates as a senior technical resource in the development of an integrated corporate networking strategy. Produces complex designs which balance the fulfillment of business requirements with technical considerations. Mentors less experienced associates. Acts as project manager for large, cross-departmental initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide expert judgment in all design aspects of the communications infrastructure.
Create system documentation and technical diagrams.
Manage the evaluation and implementation of new products technologies covering a wide spectrum of networking disciplines.
Resolve highly complex technical issues and conduct advanced research in areas where established solutions are not available.
Design and support strategy for Business Continuity Planning (BCP).
Submit written project plans as required by management.
Lead the efforts of others related to project implementations and information gathering.
Perform other duties and responsibilties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Expert-level knowledge of:
IP network design practices and principles.
WAN/LAN network technologies and related protocols.
Wireless networking technologies (802.11x).
Converged voice and data infrastructures.
Quality of Service (QOS) design and configuration.
TDM / IP PBX configuration.
Web server content switching and network design.
Network security best practices and supporting technologies.
Administration and support of Windows workstations and servers.
Common network monitoring and troubleshooting tools.
Skill in:
Integrating cross-platform design considerations into a comprehensive strategy.
Configuration of routers, switches, and content switching devices.
IP address allocation and subnetting.
Design and configuration of routing protocols and VLANs.
Ability to:
Manage large, complex projects to achieve timely, successful completion.
Employ strategic network planning at an enterprise level.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Balance conflicting resource and prioritization demands.
Manage and track multiple tasks and projects, while responding to changing priorities, in a fast-paced work environment.
Work independently, with little direct supervision.
Educational/Previous Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required.
A minimum of ten (10) years information technology experience, with a minimum of seven (7) years direct responsibility for network configuration and design.

Licenses/Certifications:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required; advanced Cisco certification(s) preferred.
Alternative networking and PBX accreditation(s) preferred.
