Responsibilities
As a Functional Product Test Engineer, you will work with the Tape Automation Test team during a product's development cycle. You will assist in planning for the test cycle, including creating a test plan, creating test cases, and assisting with planning test equipment. You will work with the development team to discover, analyze and resolve issues with automation products. Conduct a variety of product tests during the development and sustaining phases of a product's test cycle. These tests include testing hardware, features, communication protocols and interaction with servers and applications. This will require creating test scripts or procedures, performing individual tests, collecting test data, and if necessary, capturing supporting information in the event of a test failure.


Qualifications
- Evidence of personal and professional energy and excellence.
- Bachelors of Science in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent.
- 3-5 years related experience.
- Experience with product hardware and feature based testing or quality assurance (QA).

Preferred experience:
- Experience interfacing with storage peripheral products (i.e., tape drives, disk arrays, storage appliances).
- Experience with storage and/or management protocols (SCSI, FC, SNMP, SMI-S).
- Scripting experience with Perl and/or Visual Basic.
- Knowledge of operating systems (Win2003, Win2008, Linux, AIX, Unix).
- Experience operating back-up applications (Legato, Symantec, Tivoli, etc.).
- Ability to work with other technical individuals in achieving test plan goals.
