The area: Engineering Operations
In little more than a decade, Google created one of the world's largest global computing infrastructures for both internal and external use. We built it - and will continue to develop and support it - with the world's most talented administrators. Chances are that we exceed every example of a "large installation" you've encountered in your career as a network, systems or security professional. Using our unique technologies along with open source tools, we keep Google's customer-facing products running, robust and secure. Our objective is to create solutions that allow people to work and communicate in new and innovative ways - giving back to the world's technical community whenever we can.
The role: Production Engineer
The Google's sales platform is being built on Google technology and for Google scale, which leverages Google's latest advances in web applications for the cloud. The product will break the boundaries of a traditional CRM application for functionality, user interface and scale. Production Engineers will handle the production aspects of these applications and perform data migrations. You will also troubleshoot system issues in the whole spectrum (server/client/network sides, hardware/software etc.)
Responsibilities:
* Design and implement a robust operational system including failover, monitoring and escalations.
* Maintain data integrity in all production and development systems.
* Analyze production logs for operational and performance issues.
* Improve robustness and design of operational processes.
* Create reports/dashboards on operational processes and systems.
Requirements:
* BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
* Expert with MySQL, preferably with some administrative and/or performance tuning experience.
* Expert in at least two of these languages (python, perl, sql, shell scripts).
* Basic troubleshooting skills in Linux operating systems and networking.
* Hands on experience in developing and/or maintaining an ETL system.
* Logs and data analysis experience is a plus.
* Experience in managing a large system with several components is a big plus.
