JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Performs as project leader for major projects. Plans assigned project and verifies all technical data meets contractual requirements. Reviews customer requirements, prepares project schedules, tracks expended labor and costs against planned budget and ensures that all resources are available to complete the project on schedule and within budget. Guides and coordinates the work of lower grade engineers, designers and technicians engaged in the design, fabrication, test and evaluation of parts components and systems.

2. Prepares technical proposals for submittal to customers. Reads and evaluates customer request for proposal requirements and is responsible for coordinating preparation of most suitable design that not only meets all requirements of customer specifications but is also state-of-the-art in terms of technology, material selection, efficiency of manufacture and cost effectiveness.

3. Plans and coordinates tests required to verify the product meets specification and contractual requirements. Prepares or supports preparation of formal test procedures and reports for qualification and certification testing of the product.

4. Coordinates the preparation, modification and approval of engineering drawings, specifications and other supporting documentation and instructions.

5. Participates in project review and planning meetings. Conceives ideas for new project applications.

6. Prepares presentations for formal design review meetings and chairs those meetings.

7. Conducts all required customer liaison during course of planning and performance of projects. Attends customer negotiations to furnish technical and engineering data to support technical proposal. May direct customer or prospective customer contact regarding proposals and/or customer relations activities as necessary.

8. Investigates and makes corrective action recommendations with respect to product failures.

9. Contacts/visits customers, vendors and subcontractors, as required, to support assigned projects. Initiates and provides all necessary technical documentation.

10. Performs various other duties, such as: investigates and recommends new equipment, tooling or materials to produce or test products; prepares correspondence relating to assigned projects; refers patent matters to appropriate personnel; furnishes engineering support to the Material Review Board; reviews discrepancies with Quality Assurance; maintains an awareness of the latest developments within his/her field and reports accordingly.

REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum ten (10) years experience in design and manufacture of aerospace aircraft and/or related products.

B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
