POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Manager, Network/Infrastructure designs, develops, and integrates new or existing data/voice networks. Develops cross-platform data access and analysis methods. Monitors and maintains network hardware and software to assure system stability. Trains staff on use of networks. On call during non-business hours. Primary work location is the Tarrytown office but will be expected to cover Rockaway, NJ office 2-3 days a week, as needed.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
* Consults with internal and external customers on data, reporting, analysis, and presentation requirements. Develops methods utilizing existing operating systems to extract, merge, verify, summarize, and display data from various internal and external data sources. Explains options and recommends solutions to IS&T department regarding data analysis and presentation strategies. Installs, configures, and maintains companies LAN\WAN infrastructure.
* Based on end-users requirements, consults, analyzes, writes specifications, and manages projects to enhance/modify supported information systems & networks on an ongoing basis. Monitors data integrity, systems usage, and file systems free space and Network Switches,
* Remote-Access, VPN connectivity and Citrix.
* Maintain and Troubleshoot network issues using various network management tools.
* According to staff needs, implements and maintains procedures to manage and secure system and file structures for efficient resource use. Ensures integrity and security of data/voice networks and performs network analysis as needed.
* Based on systems capabilities, vendor contracts/agreements, and new development specifications, designs, installs, configures, and tests newly developed data/voice networks. Observes, analyzes, and manages network efficiency.
* Based on user requirements administers and manages networking hardware and software for hardware to personal computer system interface.
* Maintains system and data security, reviews system performance and adjusts appropriately so that system runs dependably, efficiently, and effectively.
* Based on customer needs, designs, coordinates, and conducts training on personal computers, network hardware, and use of phone systems.
* Based on customer requirements determines specifications and recommends acquisition of computer, networking, and phone system hardware and /or software.
* Oversees work of data/voice network maintenance contractors and schedules necessary maintenance to minimize down time.
* Assist in Disaster Recovery planning and testing.
* On call via cell during non-business hours (including holidays and weekends) to respond to hardware and software problems.
QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors degree in computer science, or equivalent experience. Very strong Microsoft Windows skills to include Active directory, DNS, and DHCP. Four years experience in managing complex Windows 2000/2003 server environment. MCSE a strong plus.
Understand Network design principles and support network engineer, CCNA a plus. Experience in translating general requests for information into systems for compiling, arranging, and reporting data. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt to changing environments by using problem solving, analytical, and team building skills. Ability to effectively oversee complex projects by providing open two-way communication that supports identification and achievement of goals.
