Duties: The Senior Interactive Designer translates client business requirements, user needs and technical capabilities into designs that are visually exciting, easy to use and emotionally engaging. This position requires excellent conceptual and narrative skills, as well as effective interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with clients and project teams and the ability to function effectively with minimum supervision. The position will use computer programming skills and creative design techniques to produce content that meets the specifications of the Center's deliverables; design and evaluate visual human interfaces utilizing user-centered design principles; implement section 508 accessibility standards. The position will also manage the work of contractors and collaborate with Center's project staff and consultants.
Requirements: This position requires a Bachelor's degree, as well as a minimum of four years professional digital design experience such as flash animation, motion graphics and interactive media development. Other requirements are experience using Flash to illustrate and create original assets and movies, experience with Photoshop and vector graphics programs such as Fireworks/Illustrator, and prior participation as a contributor to an interdisciplinary team. Knowledge of capabilities and limitations of Web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript, and CSS and familiarity with ActionScript 3.0 are also required. Knowledge of 3D design is a plus. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong visual style and thorough understanding of how typography, layout, color, images and interactivity impact design, will possess the ability to self-manage tight-timelines and have the desire to maintain and evolve current skill set as technology changes.
