Argo Group US currently has a challenging opportunity for a Software Engineer located in our Colony Insurance Office located in Richmond, VA. This enthusiastic, self-motivated individual will be part of a team-oriented environment in the Information Technology Department.

This position will participate in all phases of the application development lifecycle. Working collaboratively with other developers and analyst to translate business requirements into system specifications. Design and develop a comprehensive, N-tier, in-house software product front-end Internet web site. This will include both maintenance and new development.

Specific job duties and responsibilities include:
*Provide technical design and coding expertise on development teams using .Net, XML and Oracle. This includes performance tuning and code optimization.
*Design core business/data layer components utilizing industry accepted object-oriented analysis and design standards.
*Development with Oracle PL/SQL to include custom applications, package interfaces, complex reports, trouble shooting and testing This includes designing and implementing critical and complex system interfaces with other company business units and external entities.
*Developing web services to support internal and external customers

The successful candidate will have the following qualifications:
*Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems, MCSD preferred with 5 - 10 years of work experience.
*Excellent object-oriented analysis and design skills
*Expertise with .Net 3.5, Asp.Net, C#, Ajax, XML, XSL-FO / XSLT, Oracle 11g, Oracle XMLDB, Advanced C#, LINQ, Java , WCF, Java Servlet (optional)
*Experience with the following VB.Net, SQL Server 2000, HTML, DHTML, VBScript, JavaScript, COM/COM+, XML, XSLT, Web Services, SOAP, IIS, Sharepoint Portal Server, MS Office Automation (VBA), Visual Basic.
*Exerperince working off open source and Windows platforms.
*Oracle and SQL Server 2005 in n-tier architecture, writing stored procedures, DTS packages, triggers, doing multithreaded programming, and complex joins.
*Ability to articulate the technology at all levels as well as non-technical end users
*Must have demonstrated expertise with system development methodologies.
*Experience using reporting tools such as Crystal Reports or Cognos.
