Position Description
Senior Systems Engineer


Summary:
This position's primary focus is the implementation and maintenance of all server components in our client's production 24x7 web services. Scope of responsibility includes the entire engineering cycle from start of project to completion of project to include: design, review, implementation, testing, and deployment of our client's servers.

Essential Functions
Follow engineering best practices
Consistently monitor production servers
Participate in non-standard business hours on-call rotation
Investigate and correct production operational problems
Design, implement, and unit test auxiliary production server scripts
Source code control of scripts and configuration files
Deployment of Software often after standard business hours
Write design specifications
Design, build, load, configure, unit test, and deploy production servers

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Excellent written and verbal skills
Superior attention to detail
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to prioritize multiple workloads in a constantly changing environment to a timely conclusion
Productive in group and solo project assignments
Deployment process proficiency
Document process proficiency
Source code control expertise
Working knowledge of UNIX system administration
Working knowledge of Server virtualization
Working knowledge of RDBMS and SQL
Working knowledge of Windows system administration
Scripting aptitude
BS in a position applicable discipline such as Software or Server Engineering or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
VMware
Sybase
Redhat
Unix OS, driver, and application installation proficiency
