Business Systems Analyst -InsuranceThis role is for an experienced business systems analyst (BSA) for a new global Accident & Health division within a Bermuda-based Property & Casualty insurance company. This position will be based in Princeton, NJ. The BSA will develop IT systems requirements and functional design documents, perform solutions analysis, develop and execute test plans, identify and manage project issues, and assist in end-user training.
The BSA will be involved in requirements gathering and solution development across the full insurance life cycle from CRM (marketing, sales, service) to underwriting & quoting, policy administration, commissions & broker management, claims, financial reporting and analytics.
The A&H product line is initially focused on group insurance and includes business and leisure travel accident, accidental death & dismemberment and expatriate coverages, as well as other traditional A&H products (e.g., critical illness, catastrophic medical, accident and sickness school coverage).
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, facilitation, and documentation skills, be able to manage requirements gathering, functional design and testing, and be self-starting and independent in the delivery of assigned tasks and small projects. The candidate needs to be able to bridge the gap between the business and IT.
Skill Requirements Solution Analysis
- Experience in defining and prioritizing business requirements and needs

- Good experience analyzing the fit of vendor solutions based on RFIs or RFPs
- Good experience analyzing vendor package fit/gap with business requirements
- Experience in researching various solutions and doing solution alternatives analysis
Methodology, Tools & Techniques (Formal Skills)
- 7-10+ years of business and systems analysis and design experience
- Understands the essential components of business analysis methodology (business process & information analysis & modeling, use case modeling, RUP, etc.)
- Has practical experience with systems analysis and modeling tools and with testing tools
- Has good knowledge and application of several business analysis techniques
- Has past experience developing and executing testing plans and tracking results
- Good documentation capabilities
Facilitation, Presentation and Interpersonal (Soft Skills)
- Is able to facilitate meetings and workshops
- Has strong presentation skills (articulate, comprehensive slides, good follow through)
- Has good interpersonal skills (proactive behavior, consulting attitude, integrative personality, etc.)
- Has good organizational skills including ability to self-start own task assignments and to independently lead small projects
- Shows good creativity to define solutions alternatives that meet business needsDomain Knowledge
- Has solid end-to-end group insurance domain knowledge, with A&H a plus (group employee benefits or healthcare are also alternatives).
- Has exposure to document management tools and solutions
- Has the ability to fully understand business processes and business needs
- Has some international experience or exposure
- Has general understanding of IT solutions and architecture (web services/SOA, integrated document management solutions, workflow, etc.)

Role Responsiblities - Work with the business and middle to upper management to define and fulfill the requirements for making the A&H division operational
- Develop detailed business & systems requirements for new systems needed by new division
- Develop functional design documents for new systems and for enhancements to existing systems
- Develop implementation work and cost estimates in coordination with technology developers and solution architects
- Evaluate current parent company solutions to assess fit and integration into the A&H business and technology environment
- Participate in packaged system evaluation and selection
- Develop business cases for acquisition / upgrade of technology solutions
- Develop functional process maps and use cases
- Manage functional and end user testing
- Other as required to assist in start up of business
