CORESTAFF, Sharepoint Production Specialist, Redmond, 6+ Month Contract
The production specialist will be responsible for maintaining quality
standards for several technology areas, maintaining the production
schedule and production work assignments, dealing creatively with
templates to solve presentation problems, handling production
troubleshooting and template design, interacting with documentation
managers, writers, editors and tools people use to resolve difficult
production issues across the entire documentation set.
Preferred Skills: C#, Silverlight or WPF, SQL, SharePoint (development) and Scripting.. This person will be working
more on development then the RM part of the production equation.
There is a shift from producing content only to producing tools that
will enhance the user experience. Also with the focus on really managing
resource costs it becomes important to shift resources around to make
use of skill sets across all disciplines.
I am looking to hire ASAP but by 11/30/2009. This will be an ongoing
position this fical year and continue through the entire next fiscal
year. Well beyond WAVE14 and possibly into WAVE15 and beyond. Work hours
will be 40-50 keeping it within my budget for this position annually.
The job description below says it all. This position will act in a
Release/Program Management role with a side of script automation. I will
need them to take on these release and planning roles to allow me to
focus on other areas. They may also help with Troubleshooting/Supporting
our internal tools used for Content Development.
PM skills are a must. Someone who can plan work and manage the project
to the end and be able to kick in some script automation or testing when
the time comes.
We have a unique opportunity to utilize the Remote set of tools allowing
for working off site. Between Live Meeting and communicator we basically
can work from anywhere. We still have to keep in the office for curtain
days because we still have onsite staff to be supported but in general
we have a very flexible work schedule. We are unique not only for the
previous but because we are a medium team that still allows for an
entrepreneurial spirit. We still strive for process improvements but we
can think and work beyond the norm.
1. Plan the next Out of Ban content update start to finish
a. When will it get done
i. Work with writing managers to determine this date
ii. Work with writing managers and editors for various lockouts and
handoffs
iii. Facilitate all QA tasks
b. What needs to get done to make it happen
i. Work with writing mangers to determine what the deliverables are
ii. Work with the writing and editing mangers to meet the above
iii. Continue to work with them through the entire process
c. Where will the content go
i. Work with the writing managers to determine where the content will go
and how it will be delivered
ii. Work with Site Management to get all planning (bugs, Schedule
etc...) aspects ready and up to date
d. Who needs to know
i. Communicate the Timeline for the deliverable
ii. Communicate the updates between start and finish
iii. Communicate progress on a weekly basis (QA, Handoffs, Lockouts,
Localization handoffs...)
Additional Skills:
3-5 years production experience. Comprehensive knowledge of all aspects
of the production processes is required. Must have experience delivering
print, online, and Web documentation. Experience using a variety of
mark-up and scripting languages (i.e. JavaScript). Coding skills in
SGML,HTML,XML required and internal tools experience may be required.
Strong knowledge or experience in using a variety of standard graphic
design software (i.e. InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator). Management or
training experience is required. Must be able to function well in a high
stress, rapidly changing work environment. Bachelor's degree in graphic
design, technical, communication, or related field preferred. Work
experience may substitute for degree.
