Position Summary:

Lead product design improvement projects and field failure investigations for complex electro-mechanical instrumentation products. Utilize system level knowledge and expertise to direct electrical, mechanical, software and analytical design and test activities in support of failure investigations and design improvements. Plan, schedule and coordinate engineering project activities and participate as a hands on contributor for investigation, design and validation activities

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
*Design and evaluate sophisticated apparatus
*Design and perform critical experiments and/or engineering studies
*Coordinate various related engineering tasks
*Evaluate components and/or apparatus with respect to suitability and cost
*Investigate and develop sources of non-standard materials
*Resolve conflicting design requirements
*Contact sources of information and/or equipment both outside and in-house
*Translate the demands of the project or programs into specific engineering tasks
*Prepares and is accountable for schedules for assigned tasks
*Maintain and increase technical competence in his/her field
*Assist others in his/her section to increase their technical competence as the opportunity presents itself
*Prepare reports, technical memoranda, technical proposals, and notebooks
*May prepare technical papers for publication or present technical papers before professional association meetings
*Represent the Company to outside organizations in his/her own area of competence
*May assist Engineering management in overall program planning
*Maintain a good engineering notebook and be sensitive to patentable designs
*Supervises as assigned personnel in classifications below that of Senior Engineer
*Works closely with all other Engineers and technicians

Minimum Skills & Knowledge Requirements:
Requires a B.S. in Engineering and at least 8 years experience or an M.S. Degree and at least 6 years experience. Experience in design and development of medical instrumentation desirable.
