Software Test Engineer
L-3 Command & Control Systems and Software (C2S2) C4ISR Services Branch has an immediate opening for a Software Test Engineer in Charleston, SC.
- Candidate will have experience involving the development and maintenance of test automation constructs to support QA initiatives.
- The Software Test Engineer will posses knowledge of software development languages
- Design and develop test procedures and cases based on requirements relevant to automated test planning and creation.
- Design, develop, and execute reusable and maintainable automated scripts.
- Record, read, and customize basic virtual user scripts for use in load testing.
- Execute scenario's to perform basic load tests.
- Setup and perform demonstrations of automated/load testing software.
- Analyze load testing results and provide recommendations and outcomes of the test.
- Understand issues that (may) arise around automated/load testing and assist in researching and providing solutions.
- Use existing resources/knowledge to add, modify, or enhance previously recorded automated scripts.
- Perform manual testing as an end-user when necessary.
- Understand intermediate concepts and principles of load testing.
- Design and develop requirements and procedures to support load testing projects.
- Share best practices and tools that are developed and/or discovered with your fellow developers and team.
- Ensure that projects worked are updated into existing repositories.
- With additional support, instruction, and assistance, analyze and understand a project's environment, system architecture, and interdependencies to determine and apply appropriate test methodologies and cases relative to applications being load tested.
- Follow the software development lifecycle
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Information Systems or related discipline with 6+ years experience with Automated testing. Two years of relevant experience is equivalent to one year toward a bachelor's degree.
- Knowledge of SOA/Web services and the creation of web applications is preferred
- Strong knowledge and experience with test methodologies, QA process, and software release cycle.
- Experience with Rational Team Concert a strong plus
- Experience with Agile Scrum Software Development
- Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate test methodologies including writing test plans and test cases.
- Solid knowledge of Operating Systems and networking.
- Strong knowledge of release procedures and software defect tracking.
- Experience with creating and executing automated test tools.
- Solid proficiency in test effort estimation and tracking.
- Object oriented programming concepts
- Possess good, general business and technical knowledge
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Assist in planning, analyzing, designing, developing, & executing training relative to automation/load testing tools and methodologies.
- Knowledgeable in the use of automated testing tools.
