POSITION:
Manager HVAC Product Design and Development Engineer
Company has strong support from Corporate and is visionary and advancing most everything - the product line, test facility, manufacturing facility, etc.
Beautiful Raleigh, NC metro area
Products are primarily what you would call *green*.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Will manage a team of Engineers, CAD Designers & Support Staff who will perform:
Answering technical questions for sales, manufacturing, customers, etc.
70% of the team's designs will be custom designs, others will be taking a standard type product and adding some customization to it to make a new product for specific customer needs.
30% of designs will be designing families of standard products that can be easily customized to meet customer needs.
50% of the department's time will be doing R&D of new products, and extensive interaction with the media selection and manufacturing techniques.
The team will keep up on all latest news and trends in the industry
Personally do or manage testing of the new or customized products before they are put into production.
Testing will also be under candidate*s leadership, testing will be to meet UL 900 standards. Must know that standard well.
The department will be able generate graphs, reports and other marketing illustrations to define and demonstrate the system's performance and operating capacity.
50% of the department's time will be working with solving issues or making decisions for and with manufacturing relative to manufacturing methods and technical issues.
The group will be responsible for conceptually designing new HVAC or filter products, utilizing Solid Works CAD 3D modeling system. CAD Designers will turn designs into finished CAD drawings.
Will interface ongoing with Sales, Marketing, Quality, Manufacturing, CAD, and customers.

REQUIREMENTS:
Proven Leadership/Management skills, plus HVAC product design experience, especially air movement
Ability to understand customer needs and translate that need into a product design that will solve the problems.
Ability to model designs using CAD 3D systems
MOST Important now is knowledge of air movement systems design
Sheet metal design needed as well
BS Technical degree REQUIRED.

KNOCKOUTS: Lack of air movement understanding, and lack of management skills.
