The nature of complex system issues often involves knowledge and troubleshooting abilities of multiple system components. System Engineer will be working in direct collaboration with Field Service, software development group and outside development vendors to assess, diagnose and develop proper resolution to such complex issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Responsible for optimal technical performance of the systems, applications and databases.
* Responsible for complete system, application, database and interface level troubleshooting and issue resolution.
* Provides accurate complete root cause and impact analysis.
* Performs system engineering testing of new releases and features to ensure system quality.
* Responsible for meeting KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) for on-time, on-requirement and on-quality metrics.
* Constantly keeps up with software/system technology changes in the industry and provides ideas for product improvement/evolution/revolution.
* Must be proactive problem solver and highly driven to resolve the issues to complete resolution to meet customer requirements.
* Must be capable of identifying root cause issues affecting the system and define and implement corrective/mitigation actions.
* Must be accustomed to effectively dealing with unforeseen crises with quick analysis and decisive action.
* Must work effectively in a team environment; creates alignment among the team members as well as between product support, development and product strategy groups.
* Some travel required.
* Work flexible hours as required
Qualifications:
* BS degree in computer science, electrical engineering or related discipline. Masters degree is preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years of system integration or development experience. Experience in
* Solid system level knowledge of MS operating systems and technologies, including MS 2003 Server and Windows XP. MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) designation is preferred.
* Solid understanding and knowledge of Tomcat and Apache configuration and troubleshooting.
* Must be highly process oriented, with strong background in troubleshooting, root cause determination and corrective action implementation. Experience in formal system troubleshooting techniques such as Analytical Problem Solving or Six Sigma is desired.
* Product support and/or development experience is strongly desired.
* Medical device/Healthcare software industry experience is highly desired.
* Knowledge of imaging systems (preferably medical imaging) is highly desired.
* Knowledge of database systems, Ingres, Oracle or Sybase preferred.
* Experience with Java technologies * Java/J2EE, JSP, etc.
* Knowledge of Visual Basis and Advanced VB scripting.
* Knowledge / experience of C/ C++ is desired.
* Must be a highly motivated self-starter with the initiative and ability to follow an issue through completion. Must be able to achieve results and aggressively identify and solve problems that affect product usage and delivery.
* Ability to reduce an overwhelming amount of information into a few salient issues to focus on. The ability to prioritize the most relevant from all other issues.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and in successfully completing programs/projects while also serving as a key individual technical contributor.
* Places great value on continuous learning and building knowledge of software /IT technologies within the organization.
* Very effective oral and written communication skills.
