Title: Senior Systems Engineer (SSE)

Reports To: Sr. Manager of Server Operations & Engineering

Location: Portland, OR

Summary: This position's primary focus is the implementation and maintenance of all server components in eLynx's production 24x7 web services. Scope of responsibility includes the entire engineering cycle from start of project to completion of project to include: design, review, implementation, testing, and deployment of eLynx servers.

The Sr. Systems Engineer shall enrich their knowledge and experience of the full cycle engineering process as their career advances. The development of this engineering base knowledge may lead to opportunities to act as a lead Systems Engineer or perhaps to other people/team management opportunities.

Essential Functions
* Follow engineering best practices
* Consistently monitor production servers
* Participate in non-standard business hours on-call rotation
* Investigate and correct production operational problems
* Design, implement, and unit test auxiliary production server scripts
* Source code control of scripts and configuration files
* Deployment of Software often after standard business hours
* Write design specifications
* Design, build, load, configure, unit test, and deploy production servers

* BS in a position applicable discipline such as Software or Server Engineering or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree

Shift/Work Hours
While this position primarily works during standard business hours, the incumbent must be available to cover adhoc and scheduled project deadlines and deployments. SOME SHIFT WORK IS REQUIRED. This includes but is not limited to the occasional Saturday night from 8 PM for deployments and Thursday nights starting at 9 PM to completion of installation. Most deployments last between 2 to 4 hours and change windows last approximately 1-2 hours. This is usually a team effort including but not limited to an Engineering Manager and Systems Engineer.
