Business Relationships Directly reports to Director of Software Development Job Summary The role of the Principal Software Engineer is to work on large heterogeneous data backend applications that include several data sources, a number of servers, developed and run by distributed international team. Linux based programming environment and workstation. Successful applicant will be responsible for technical feasibility, design, implementation, production release, documentation and communication with other teams. Duties and Responsibilities - Lead projects that enhance existing systems. This includes technical feasibility, design, development, deployment plan and hand over to operational;
- Work on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors;
- Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results;
- Work in collaboration with other groups to make sure the project is a success; this includes project management, business analysis, QA, operational groups.
Education and Previous Experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience in software development
Knowledge and Skills - Practical experience and deep understanding of text search engines (FAST, BRS -OpenText)
- Advanced Java, Spring Framework
- High-level languages; especially advanced JavaScript, Perl, Rython, Unix shell.
- Advanced C/C++
- Deep understanding of relational database; SQL (including stored procedures)
- Familiarity with open source tools, community
- Text processing: advanced regular expressions, XML, XSLT, character encoding, etc.
