Project Description:
Our client's Middleware Group is looking for a Senior Systems Engineer who will be responsible for the engineering, roll out, and operational support of middleware messaging products.
The selected Consultant will be primarily responsible for planning, architecture, implementation, and support of our middleware messaging infrastructure for high availability, recoverability, and reliability.
The key words are:Infrastructure Design, Delivery, and Support.
Strong system analysis, architecture, design, and administration skills are essential.The position breaks down as follows:50% hands-on system engineering & administration, 35% infrastructure design and architecture practices, and 15% leadership.Leadership entails working with support engineers, vendors and developers across teams.
Very close to the technology - design, configure and support middleware messaging products.
Strong knowledge of ITIL practices - Configuration, Change and Release Management.
Strong Infrastructure Management background - capacity planning, performance management and security.
Key Activities:
As a Senior Systems Engineer the candidate will have following responsibilities:
Work on the architecture, design, implementation, deployment, and support of the middleware messaging infrastructure
Maintain WebSphere MQ/Message Broker and ActiveMQ infrastructure including setup of the networks with MQ Queue managers, Message Brokers and ActiveMQ across multiple platforms.
Develop infrastructure standards, best practices and guidelines
Provide technical leadership and mentoring, promoting adherence to standardized IT processes, strategic principles and architectural standards.
Lastly, candidates need to be engineers with a WebMQ and Message Broker background who have the ability to do Architecture, development as well as some Administration work. Java development is a big plus and experience with Weblogic, Tomcat and JMS is required (these technologies will be used about 10% of the time).
Tools/Technologies/Experience/Skills:
Required Skills:
Strong Engineering, Architecture, Administration and Development skills with Websphere MQ and Message Broker.
Candidates will need to know Weblogic and JMS.Tomcat is also a big plus as our client is running it with some applications.
5+ years in WebSphere MQ, Message Brokers and JMS.
2+ years in Active MQ, UNIX administration, and scripting.
Systems analysis, engineering and administration skills.
Strong understanding of middleware messaging technologies and infrastructure management.
Demonstrated experience in managing critical application(s)
Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
Some experience working directly with vendors and business users.
Strong motivation and ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
