Network Engineer-CCNA General Description: Troubleshoots problems that involve trade-offs between cost containment and or timeliness of service. Articulates the business value and impact of technical and non-technical information and understands when to escalate issues. Provides effective production support including accurate problem identification, ticket documentation and customer/vendor dialogue. Delivers project and process documentation for small-to medium-scale projects. Must have a strong technology background to understand change requests and to recommend alternate solutions. Is often consulted by peers and seen as the informal leader on tactical problems. Must have the ability to work with telephone company carriers to troubleshoot circuits. Performs all technical program tasks with minimal supervision. Must have strong project and coordination skills. Technical Skills: (1) Intermediate understanding of LoB technology drivers and their impact on architecture design (
2) Intermediate understanding of performance and monitoring (3) Knowledge of more than one specific infrastructure technology (4) Intermediate understanding of best practices policies (5) Intermediate troubleshooting skills (6) Technical certifications as required (7) Ability to troubleshoot telco circuits Responsibilities: Basic Routing and Switching concepts (CCNA level) Basic LAN and WAN troubleshooting skills Wireless LAN,'(tm)s Familiarity with Unix environment Ability to follow documented steps and processes Ability to identify situations that need escalations Microsoft Excel and Visio skills Qualifications:
•Bachelor degree in a Computer Science, Telecommunications, or equivalent highly desirable and/or preferred.
•3 - 5 years of extensive network design or operational experience within a large enterprise environment, some of it in a multi-platform, distributed environment.
