Baseline Skillset
Broad understanding of storage management frameworks, services, understanding of storage architectures and solutions such as archive, tiering, thin provisioning, virtualization.
Understanding of the principles of storage economics and ITIL service framework.
Fundamentals of finance, e.g., TCO, ROI, IRR, elasticity, depreciation, cash flow, revenue, DCM, OP-ex, CAP-ex.
Familiar with server and network economics. Virtualization, centralization.
Prod Storage Skillset
Archive
Proficient in excel, good understanding of Archive solutions, particularly Evault, centerra, snapvault, HCAP.
Proficient in Tiered Storage / Storage Consolidation / Thin Provisioning
Knowledgeable in installation & Configuration of storage discovery and management tools
Proficient wintel engineer or storage engineer with wintel background. Should be able to install point and click style software and trouble shoot general software installation problems.
Configuration
Should be able to understand the topology of the SAN and software on storage devices. Need to be able to trouble shoot connectivity issues.
Tiered Storage - Data collection / Analysis
Skilled MS-access resource with average understanding of storage, need to be able to manipulate data in tables and potentially write basic SQL queries. Preferably familiar with SANscreen, although they could easily be brought up to speed.
Storage Consolidation / Thin Provisioning- Data Analysis
Ability to manipulate storage data in Excel. Decent knowledge of Storage.
Block Virtualization
Decent knowledge of Storage. Especially around high end SAN architectures.
Management Tools, Process & Automation
ITIL knowledgeable within Storage service framework. Understands automation tools and processes.
Data Protection Skillset
Data De-Duplication
Thorough understanding of backup architectures, particularly Netbackup, VTLs, disk staging, preferably Puredisk or Avamar. Good with excel.
Backup Optimization
Same as de-dup but with skills in TSM also.
DR improvement
same as the above two, but also really understanding the difference between operational recovery and DR. Preferably ITIL skills around continuous improvement and service continuity.
Management Tools, Process & Automation
ITIL certified, familiar with Storage. Understands automation tools and processes.

Expectation for Travel:
For the Consulting Division of CSC, all roles require a commitment to 100% travel. This doesn't mean that a person will always be traveling for assignments, but new Consultants joining the CSC team need to understand that they could be assigned to a travel role. The staffing process focuses on assigning people to local roles as a first priority, however, if a Consultant is available and has the right skills for an assignment for another CSC office across the United States, the Consultant may be staffed into that travel assignment. When this happens, they travel to the project location at the start of the week, return at the end of the work week and are home during the weekends.
