Search and Advertising Researcher / Scientist / Engineer

(ideally the role is a combination of research and development, but can lean in either direction depending on the candidate)

This is a newly founded and fast growing R&D office for a leading e-commerce company. It is like a startup (you get pre-IPO stock) within a leading public company. Our goal is to research and develop world class large scale distributed systems, with special focus on Search and Advertising technologies in e-commerce, and large scale platforms that will power the world*s largest e-commerce sites.​

Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of these types of positions are:

- Research, design, implement, and deploy advanced large scale platforms and systems in the company's core businesses, especially in search, advertising, crawl and data storage

- Research, design and prototype the company's strategic advanced products, especially for search relevancy and advertising, and large data analysis;

- Research and implement world class technologies on wide range of applications in e-commerce areas

- About 10%​-15%​ travel is required for this position.​


Requirements:

- MS/​PhD in Computer Science or equivalent

- 3 * 30 years industry experience

- Strong knowledge about computer science and mathematics, including data structure and algorithmic complexity.​

- Strong programming skills/​experience in any programming language such as C/​C+​+​, Java, Perl, PHP, or Python

- Solid UNIX experience

- Outstanding and approachable team player.​ Self-starter with a *can do* attitude

- Excellent writing and oral communication skills


Strong Plus:

- Experience in search relevancy, advertising system, large scale e-commerce systems, data processing, cloud computing, and related areas

- Research experience in machine learning, graph theory, statistics, natural language processing (NLP), advertising modeling
