IT Portfolio Manager
Embedded member of the functional IT Head's team, integral to the development and maintenance of the functional and enterprise IT Roadmaps and Portfolios. Maintains the portfolio view of projects which will support the functional area strategy and objectives. Responsible for making portfolio (ROI based prioritization, composition), scheduling and risk recommendations to Head of functional IT area and Head of PMO. (Goal is to optimize the structure the functional project portfolio in a manner enables the functional and IT leadership to make the best investment decisions based on value, priority, and constraints (resource, technology, etc.) Note: this is not a project delivery role, but does provide portfolio progress oversight
Manages monthly, quarterly and annual portfolio prioritization process for the aligned functional area. Manages / leads financial investment modelling for functional portfolio (priority, affordability). Manages functional area project inventory as component of enterprise IT inventory
Liaises and collaborates closely with other Portfolio managers to develop integrated enterprise IT Portfolio, Roadmap and attendant costs and risks
Provide effective decision support : analyses and provides counsel to the functional IT area and Head of PMO on portfolio / program / project interdependencies, resource constraints, portfolio level risks which may impact / influence scheduling of projects within the portfolio and within the enterprise IT functional portfolio
Leads KPI development for each Business Case and post project works with the Sponsor and Project Office (Benefits Tracking) to ensure Benefits Realization
Provides financial and non-financial insights to the relevant governance (functional and enterprise IT) bodies to inform, and drive decisions, e.g. Portfolio Steering
Committee reporting and analysis requirements
Monitors, analyses and pro-actively manages portfolio trends, e.g. projects (not) delivered on time, on budget, on scope, to required quality standards.
Facilitates / leads the development of Business Cases aligned to the functional area Roadmap: liaises with Business and IT Sponsors to lead the creation, review and ultimately presentation of Business Cases to the functional and IT governance forums, ensuring that the appropriate contributors and reviewers are engaged
Leads the evaluation and assessment of unplanned functional projects, leading the Project Sponsor through the exception (unplanned project) process
Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
Requires demonstrable experience of managing large, complex IT portfolios (strong plus: commercial applications exp such as sales and marketing) .
Requires demonstrable experience of managing IT projects . PMP or Prince2 qualified preferred .
Knowledge / qualification in IT standards such as ITIL . Knowledge of Pharmaceutical industry preferred .
Demonstrable knowledge, experience and capabilities in: financial planning and evaluation, business plan development, investment modeling, portfolio planning, and Request, Project and Program methodologies and lifecycles, e.g. SDLC .
Demonstrable experience of working with multiple On-shore and off-shore Managed Service Providers and working in and with a matrixed IT and Business Organization
