Long established professional services firm in the DC area is looking for APPLICATION SUPPORT ENGINEER II to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Looking for a technical Systems Engineer consultant to help with building a new Linux server.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

Acts as a secondary response for technical support. Provides for complex products, including escalated issues, mainly to end users, along with developers and corporate customers. Provides support via telephone, written correspondence, and electronic media. Works independently with limited supervision. May provide technical training, coaching and mentoring to other engineers. May act as substantial technical resource in certain product areas.  (3-5 year experience)

Seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to support the Linux installation and patching. The successful candidate will have experience delivering solutions in a collaborative environment under aggressive deadlines.

Understanding of Linux OS, patches, tuning and scripting

Proven experience in end-to-end problem determination/troubleshooting system issues

Ideal candidate must be willing to support production systems 24 x 7 on a rotational basis

Understanding of Microsoft System Center or equivalent

Thorough understanding of networks and storage systems

Work in a team oriented environment and ability to communicate effectively within teams. Share new ideas with the team and be able to think and recommend solutions. Must have strong work ethics and professional demeanor

High level of professionalism, integrity and commitment to quality

Organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

The Linux administrator should have worked with VMware, ESX virtualization software and should be knowledgeable with HP C-class blade and racks etc.           

Microsoft Operation Framework (MOF) V4.0 and/or ITIL V3 Foundation certification
