
Senior IMINT Systems Engineer 5
Northrop Grumman/TASC is seeking a Senior IMINT Systems Engineer to support NRO's Director of Systems Engineering and Mission Success Executive (MSE) with expertise, tools, and analysis of national security space acquisition technical risk elements and potential impacts to program performance, cost, and schedule. Supporting program managers, systems engineers, and cost estimators, the MSE analyzes program technical details to assess overall realism of acquisition program commitments for delivery of critical mission capabilities through a disciplined, risk-based methodology.
Duties:
Perform systematic review and assessment of near-, mid-, and long-term developmental IMINT systems for technical maturity, schedule realism, cost drivers, and milestone readiness Identify technical risks in development, manufacturing, production, and integration of critical components, subsystems, and systems impacting cost, schedule, and performance baselines Develop and model risk-based technical scenarios that characterize best case/worst case impact to system cost, schedule, and performance baselines Interact with cost analysts to support independent costs estimates based on technical scenarios Perform trade studies and evaluate CAIV analyses of alternative IMINT mission concepts and system designs Monitor and assess maturity of critical IMINT technologies Conduct analytic program schedule assessments based on technical scenarios Review technical design, interface, and test artifacts to follow MSE risks and issues through to closure Provide an objective, independent view of the realism of program baseline cost, and schedule to senior level managers for high-level decision making and acquisition planning Deliver information to senior managers that describes relationships between proposed technical solutions and realism of the associated cost and schedule baseline Support major acquisition milestone decisions with technical assessment to Independent Acquisition Assessment lead Conduct ad hoc technical assessments for senior management Required Skills: B.S. Engineering/Physics or related field (required), M.S./PhD in Engineering/Physics (desired) ~14 Years experience with DoD/civil/Intelligence Community IMINT systems acquisition, development, and/or operations to include Research, Development, Test, & Evaluation mandatory 4 Years hands-on engineering experience with IMINT system design/development Demonstrated Subject Matter Expertise in one or more of the following areas: o System level architecture, end-to-end mission performance requirements o Space vehicle sensors, secondary payloads, and software o Spacecraft bus, vehicle interfaces, and associated hardware and software o Space vehicle integration and test o Ground processing segment hardware and software development, interfaces, integration and test Track record of engaging and collaborating with space acquisition organizations at all levels with increasing levels of responsibility Empirically assess technical data quickly based on hands-on technical experience Experience running and participating in milestone reviews for major acquisition programs Communication/Interpersonal Skills: Candidate should have the communication skills (oral and written) to convey a summary of technical assessments in a clear and concise manner to technical peers, non-technical professional laypersons, and senior management. Candidate should be capable of productively and collegially interacting with diverse, multi-functional teams Commitment to recognize, understand, respect, and operate effectively within various SETA, FFRDC, and Government lines of authority Clearances: ACTIVE TS/SCI cleared Relocation Assistance Available.
