Sr. Network Engineer

Lab Environment

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Member of a team of engineers responsible for Product Development and Access & Transport services.  The individual will be a key contributor to the development and deployment new CB Products.  This position will be responsible for testing and integration of multiple vendor products into the Transport and Access network.  Hands on work in a lab or cable system environment are required to validate test plans and configurations before service deployment.  Participation in industry working groups and technical forum related to technology development and standards.  The individual will also support vendors with product and service requirements based on business needs and internal customer requests.  The position requires strong technical skills working knowledge of IP routing, Switching, MPLS, and VPLS technologies.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

 

-Member of a team of engineers responsible for Product Development and Testing.

 

-Responsible for testing, evaluation, integration and configuration of Access Networks -Ability to accomplish activities related to system design, equipment configuration and installation, integration, testing and service validation prior to commercial deployment.

 

-Develop documentation related to design and proper configuration of system components.

 

-Troubleshoot and analyze transport, networking and software configurations.

 

-Provide briefings and project status reports to senior management

 

-Perform other duties as directed by senior management.

 

Requirements: • Experience or desire to work in a lab environment • 8 years of hands-on configuration of routers experience • 8 years of  experience – design and system engineering • 5 years of experience working with testing methodologies • Ability to analyze and interpret complex data • Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner • Ability to communicate with all levels of management and company personnel • Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure • Ability to prioritize and organize effectively • Ability to show judgment and initiative and to accomplish job duties • Knowledge of cable and telecommunications products and services • Knowledge of IP Routing & ISIS routing protocol • Knowledge of network design, architecture, protocols and topology Expertise with MPLS and LDP • Expertise with MPLS L2 VPN’s, MPLS L3 VPN’s • Expertise with L2TPv3 technology • Expertise with DOCSIS technology, Cisco 10K. • Expertise with Business Services over DOCSIS • Expertise with Cisco ASR9K (IOS-XR) • Expertise with Cisco 7600 & Ethernet Services modules (IOS) • Expertise with IXIA/Spirent Test sets • Expertise with MEF Architectures and Specifications
