Travel to 33%+/- of the time, when required, primarily in US.
Drives improvement in supplier performance through implementation of company quality strategies and objectives.
Assures that purchased parts and assemblies are processed and tooled to meet optimum quality, quantity and cost requirements.
Provide subject matter expertise in the use of quality/business tools, techniques, and methodologies. Utilize advanced problem-solving tools to lead the implementation of continual improvement activities that directly impact business metrics and performance.
Leads on-site supplier process assessments and systems audits - recommends improvements, and monitors implementation of changes.
Promotes design for manufacturability by working with Product Engineering and suppliers to review/modify tolerances/specifications on both new and existing designs.
Supports various elements of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), including review and sign-off of the Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
Reviews key internal quality metrics (NCM, PPM, Warranty Defects, etc.) and identifies, initiates, and completes necessary corrective/preventive actions to achieve desired performance targets.
Works with suppliers to develop continuous improvement initiatives to yield timely and effective solutions to complex manufacturing and/or quality problems.
Coordinates efforts required to develop, implement, and verify manufacturing control systems at suppliers.
Supports the standardization of quality/business methods, measures and tools.
Enhances problem-solving competencies within key stakeholder groups
Supports supplier capacity planning/review and performs Run-At-Rate analysis to assure suppliers are capable of providing adequate supply and quality of purchased product.
Coordinates with purchasing, engineering, and manufacturing to prepare suppliers for new product launch so to minimize impact to the business.
Assists in the identification of value engineering and process improvement that result in cost reduction opportunities.
Leads key elements of the Quality Management System to maintain internal ISO compliance/registration.
Leads and mentors employees in the use of quality tools, techniques and methodologies to measure, monitor, report, and improve business performance.
Maintains high level of technical expertise through on-going education and training.
BS Degree Required; prefer in Quality, Engineering, Business or Supply Chain. MBA a plus.
3 - 10 years years of Supplier Quality-Development and/or Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated understanding and ability to teach problem-solving and quality system management techniques.
Ability to systematically gather/analyze data to make decisions/recommendations that solve problems and prevent recurrence.
Ability to communicate/work with and influence all levels of an organization, both internally and externally.
Working knowledge of measurement and testing equipment selection and appropriate use.
Proven success in the use of and mentoring of Problem-Solving methods.
Working knowledge of measurement and statistical process control techniques.
Hands-on experience and demonstrated success in the application of advanced product quality planning (APQP) tools and techniques.
Understands PC operations including systems and software.
Advanced Problem Solving (Six Sigma Green / Black Belt) certification is highly desirable.
ASQ--CQE, CMQ/OE, Lead Assessor, or CSCP Certifications highly desirable.
Ability to travel up to 33%+/- of the time, when required, primarily in US
