Cisco Voice Engineer

 

Overview

We are looking for an intelligent, seasoned voice engineer to join our team.  A successful voice engineer at BCTI will be able to truly understand the networking environment, assess, design, and implement network voice solutions, and provide excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.

 

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Minimum 5 years IT voice and networking experience with responsibility for installing network infrastructure including Cisco VoIP phone systems, firewalls, routers, and switches and network/voice management software
  • Proven success installing and maintaining IT voice/network solutions
  • Ability to evaluate network performance to identify operational problems and suggest improvements to optimize a network
  • Excellent people skills, communication skills and self-management skills
  • Experience and desire to work in a team environment with other engineers
  • Honesty, integrity and a genuine desire to help
  • Ability to focus, manage your time and your work, and get things done quickly, efficiently, and completely

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

 

  • Ability to configure, install, troubleshoot and maintain voice and network equipment including Cisco routers, switches, wireless controllers and access points, firewalls, Unity and Communications Manager
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and ability to narrow down the cause of an issue and determine a solution
  • Experience with Dial Peers, Dial Plans, SIP registration and SIP Trunking
  • Working knowledge of PRI, FXO Ports and VPN Configuration
  • Experience with a variety of routing protocols including EIGRP, BGP
  • Experience with SSH and NAT
  • Cisco Certifications – CCNA Voice required, (CCVP or CCNP highly preferred)


 

Beneficial Attributes (strongly desired, not required)

 

 

  • Some knowledge of servers and Microsoft Server/Exchange
  • Network design including IP numbering, access control, queuing, quality of service, capacity planning, capacity modeling, routing and switching
  • VMware and/or Citrix experience

  • Ability to create Visio drawings of network equipment
  • Experience working for a Value-Added Reseller
  • Experience with ConnectWise PSA or other ticketing/CRM solution


 

Position Responsibilities

 

  • Install and maintain Cisco VoIP solutions
  • Provide break-fix support to clients when experience issues
  • Utilize troubleshooting skills to determine root cause and to implement appropriate solution to resolve network/server issues
  • Assist other technicians as needed
  • Documentation of work performed as well as providing customer network documentation
  • Ensure excellent customer service
  • Maintain and achieve certifications as requested
  • Meet deadlines and customer expectations
  • On Call responsibilities on a rotating basis
  • Evening and weekend work on occasion
