The role of the dev ops engineer at here is a very important and high profile role.
ñ Create cost effective elastic capacity for development and QA
ñ Simplify the development and qa processes to create further efficiency and maintainability
ñ Create and maintain a knowledge repository to reduce single person risks
ñ Manage and direct daily activity of two off shore development support personnel
ñ Ensure quality and integrity of software packaging and testing environments
ñ Collect and analyze system and application metrics to facilitate performance monitoring and capacity planning
ñ Five plus years of experience with Linux administration, including bash, sed, and awk
ñ Open-source system management tools such as Nagios, collectd/graphite, Puppet/Chef
ñ Expertise in a scripting language (python, perl, *nix shell)
ñ Experience with Message Queue technologies
ñ Experience with RDBMS and/or distributed key-value data stores
ñ Good communication skills – able to discuss/defend/document your ideas
ñ An engineering degree – or similar experience that illustrates your ability to understand and make effective decisions when faced with design trade-offs
Optional (but preferred)
ñ Experience with network and storage systems
ñ QA testing experience – including load testing
ñ Web 2.0 – jQuery, REST, AJAX, Comet
ñ FIX and/or FPML
ñ Familiarity with ITIL principals
ñ Finance experience
ñ Be a startup junkie who wants to see a new idea (and company) succeed.
