Advertising Sales Representative

ConnectTel Inc., a 17 year-old Austin company located near the Arboretum in Northwest Austin, seeks an experienced advertising sales / corporate sponsorship representative interested in commissioned compensation.

The candidate must be driven, persistent and comfortable making cold calls to local corporations. Daily duties will include researching target customers, making preliminary phone calls, sending marketing material and closing the sale. In-person visits will likely be required to close deals and a senior company executive will be available to assist as needed.

The service being offered has a strong track record. We have been operating in Central Texas for almost ten years and are beginning a push to branch out first in Texas and then nationally. Day to day activity will be researching target customers and offering a “low-key” sales pitch over the phone. You will present the service to parties whom will generally have significant interest in the offer. Once connected, you’ll explain the service and what is required to implement, answer questions and then work towards either closing the deal or setting up a meeting where you and/or senior management can do so. The candidate must be a self-starter who can operate with minimal guidance. Once established, work hours will be flexible and some work can be performed from home.

Education and Experience

  • 3-5 years of sales experience
  • Experience obtaining corporate sponsorship or selling blocks of advertising
  • Basic computer skills (Email, Word, PowerPoint, internet search)

  • Sales – must enjoy talking to potential customers on the phone
  • Patience – must be willing to work around the schedule of the customer
  • Perseverance – must be methodical about calling people back and taking good notes
  • Communication skills – must have excellent verbal skills, particularly on the phone
  • Research – must be able to use the internet and your personal contacts to identify target customers
  • Adaptability – must be able to adjust the sales plan as we learn
  • Customer service orientation – must help build a relationship with customers who might not be ready for our service immediately such that we are welcome to contact them again in the future
