Interview

Alright, I had one last week on Wednesday and it went pretty well. I sent out customized thank-you letters to a couple of people thanking them yadda yadda.. These notes were e-mailed the day following the interview. Since then, I haven't heard from them but am starting to consider sending a follow-up letter to the follow-up letter. What is the best possible way of writing this? Might a phone call work more favorably? Should I wait, perhaps till early next week for a follow up???
Advice! please!

The Thank You should have gone out the same day. A polite reminder call wouldn't hurt.

USCitizen,
I'm not getting a lot of the good stuff here
Why the SAME day? That's kind of "stockish" don't you think? I sent out the thank-you's the mid morning, after the interview just to help keep me fresh in their minds, etc. So its just a few hours short of the one week period, what are the odds of receiving some kind of correspondence from them at this point? I'm thinking of sending one more "thank-you, I'm still alive and interested type-of-email" Any recommendations here?

I agree, but that's the bullcr@p every career counselor will give you. They'll also tell you that the interviewer can pick up on your negative vibes at this very moment.

USCitizen,
Sending the thank-you note out comes across as being just a little "stockish" and "weird". If I were interviewing someone and they sent me a thank-you e-mail the same day, I would probably dismiss it as desperation and would be turned off. The next day, that's fine, it helps act as a "seed" in the interviewers mind.
What I did do was I called them yesterday - exactly one week after the interview. I could have contacted the person responsible for hiring, but I insisted on the HR person. It was a quick call where I politely asked about the progress they were making and was told that no decisions have been made yet. Which is fine, he seemed happy to hear from me and again, I reinforced my interest in the job without being pushy and again thanked him for this time.

As a Former Microsoft Staffing Consultant here is my take on your interview - The company has a very poor hiring process or your not currently the first choice for the position. Bottomline.
To "Get An Edge" if you do want to send a "Thank You" stop doing what everybody else is doing!
Try these things instead:
1. A mp3 "thank you" 2. A video "thank you"
I would add some low music in the background maybe "Rocky theme song", Classical or a jingle from the companies marketing or branding campaign.
Note: US Citizen is right though, the Career Counselors & Outplacement agencies are still telling Job Seekers the same old stuff 50 years later.

AskARenegade,
RE: Getting an Edge,
An MP3 thank-you? A video thank-you? Honestly, this doesn't sound like something I would likely do. Have you attempted either? Were you successful or anyone else you know successful?

I had suggested it to several people last year with success after they was sure they failed the interview.
Earlier this year at Microsoft it helped a candidate I brought in for an interview get an offer.
Scenario:
The feedback was 50/50 but when the .mp3 went around to the interviewers with the song "Lean On Me" in the background he was hired as Software Design Engineer at 104k.
Listen, If you don't like your results , then change what you"re doing.
